aux vivres; 
in case you haven’t noticed, i’m seriously obsessed with vegetarian food (don’t get me wrong, i love a good steak too) and i’m determined to try as many vegan/vegetarian menu’s as i can. Montreal’s Aux Vivres doesn’t compare to Fresh in Toronto or The Naam in Vancouver, but it’s cutting it pretty damn close. their smoothies were super fresh, we had the bombay banana (banana, soy-coconut milk, masala, dates and ginger) and the mango lassi (mango, lime and coconut milk). but by far the best thing was the grilled tempeh, it had an amazing texture and nutty flavour and i’d choose it over tofu any day. it’s seen in the buddha bowl with steamed organic broccoli and spinach, sesame and pumpkin seeds, shredded carrot, cucumber and their distinct wafu dressing. the veggie pate sandwich was also super flavourful; veggie pate, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles and mayo served in their unique chapati bread. although having been disappointed with Aux Vivres in the past, i clearly had just been ordering the wrong dishes.
